Festival of Arts (FOA)

Festival of Arts is a biennial event hosted by the Performing Arts CCAs. In this production, we showcase our dance pieces to the public, which consist of not only our coach’s pieces, but also pieces choreographed by our very own dancers.

We spend about 6-7 months preparing and planning for the production, and every dancer in the club is wholly involved in it. It is through this process that we foster strong bonds within the dance club and find in the people around us a family.

FOA is an exhilarating opportunity that never fails to become the highlight of our MGS journey. Through this experience, we hope to be a blessing to others by portraying our passion for dance in this production.

Singapore Youth Festival (SYF)

Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) is a national arts presentation that MGDance partakes in every two years.

Each SYF, our coach, Mr. Dan Kwoh, choreographs a unique piece to showcase the dancers’ artistic talents.

Our involvement in SYF has always been an enriching, exciting experience, a valuable time to hone our skills while building bonds and strengthening friendships. The preparation period for SYF is a rigorous but extremely fulfilling one that teaches us the value of grit and resilience. Hence, SYF has become a much looked-forward-to event in each dancers’ journey at MGS, one that they will be sure to grow from.

Internal & External Performances

Every year, each batch is presented with multiple opportunities to perform in school-based events such as Teachers' Day and Chinese New Year. â€‹During these events, the dancers are asked to choreograph their own pieces and any dance style is allowed.

Sometimes, we are given the opportunity to perform outside of school for Values-In-Action (VIA) and contribute to meaningful causes. For example, in 2024, our Secondary 3 dancers performed for Sengkang General Hospital's Gratitude Gala at Furama Riverfront as well as Sustainable Kids Market 2024 at Marina Square.

It is often through these experiences that we grow closer with our batchmates!
